Double bass player and composer, his versatility is the result of a wealth of experiences ranging from Renaissance music (given his sizeable research and performance with the “Gruppo Musica Insieme“); baroque, lyrical-symphonic and contemporary (especially in “Nuove Forme Sonore” with Schiaffini, Jesus Villarojo and Myciko Hirayama), tango (with the “Novitango” group directed by Hugo Aisemberg) and jazz (from free jazz to mainstream). In the latter, he collaborated with exponents the caliber of Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, Slide Hampton, Peter Erskine, Art Farmer, Frank Rosolino, Lee Konitz; and among the Europeans: Steve Lacy, Kenny Wheeler, Albert Mangelsdorf, Misha Mengelberg, Evan Parker, John Taylor, Alex Von Slippenbach. With these and many other musicians he has recorded over 100 records as well as numerous radio-television collaborations. He has played in festivals all over the world (from China to Finland, from the United States to Holland, from Greece to India). He was the first President (1989-1990) of the Associazione Nazionale Musicisti di Jazzand first president (1997-1998) of the Association “Italian Instabile Orchestra“. He has had a very rich didactic career: creator and founder of the “Scuola Popolare di Musica di Testaccio“, teacher of various workshops and conservatory teacher of classical double bass and jazz. He is one of the most appreciated European jazz arrangers and conductors: in this capacity he has worked with several European orchestras (also directing Ellington’s suites in their entirety).
